Downhill Publishing has created a package of 31 school fonts.  The fonts are fully scalable and allow using arrows, lines, or dots, or a combination of all of them. In the light of the debate over the decline of handwriting in America schools, some teachers and parents alike have expressed state and federal educational agencies the need to include in the school curriculum systematic handwriting practice for students.  Together they are advocating the adoption of programs and software for schools that can foster handwriting in a meaningful and inexpensive way.

One of the choices that they are favoring is the inclusion in the early grades of school fonts. The rationale behind this is the rapid growth of some programs (like Fonts 4 Teachers software) among school educators and the encouraging results that those programs are having, especially among early grades, special education population, and English learners.  These programs usually allow you to create, download or print hundreds of handwriting worksheets tailored to the students needs: Fonts are scalable, and can be used with dots, arrows, lines… or a combination of all.  In the same fashion, fonts for school offer the possibility of using either Manuscript or/and D’Nealian alphabets fonts, Mac and Word, and usually include cursive fonts, handwriting fonts and other types of fonts like decorative fonts, phonics fonts or sign language fonts.
